POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE), at the University of California, San Diego, invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor position in Aerospace Engineering.

Of particular interest is research focused on aerospace vehicles and mission design including, but not limited to, advanced flight dynamics, hypersonic flight and propulsion, fluid-structure interactions, net-zero carbon emission aviation, and UAVs, as well as research motivated by space-based systems including, but not limited to, low-cost launch systems technologies, emerging spacecraft power, propulsion, thermal management, guidance/navigation & control, novel sensor systems, micro and nanosatellites; crewed and robotic systems, space-based assembly and manufacturing, and in-situ resource recovery and utilization.

The required job duties for this position encompass:
1. Establishing a robust research program, which involves the development of grant proposals & securing funding.
2. Teaching university students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels;
3. Maintaining professional competency in related discipline;
4. Participating in a variety of service activities.
