Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Nanophotonics for Next-Generation Imaging

The research group of Professor Lisa Poulikakos in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UC San Diego has an opening for a postdoctoral position in the area of Nanophotonics for Next-Generation Imaging Applications. Qualifications: The successful candidate holds a PhD Degree (or equivalent) with an excellent academic record from an internationally recognized institution, typically in one of the following areas: materials science, mechanical / electrical engineering, physical sciences. Candidates with extensive knowledge of and interest in advanced experimental optics, microscopy and spectroscopy, nanomaterials fabrication and characterization (including clean room experience) or computational modeling of nanomaterials are strongly encouraged to apply. Additionally, a very good command of English (speaking and writing) is required.

Research Environment: We offer an exciting postdoctoral position at the top-ranked Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego. In addition to state-of-the-art research resources available in the Poulikakos Lab, UCSD offers a multitude of opportunities for interdisciplinary research and world-class facilities including the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (UCSD MRSEC), the Institute for Materials Discovery and Design (UCSD IMDD), the Institute for Engineering in Medicine (UCSD IEM) and the Nano3 cleanroom facilities. The UCSD campus is located on the beautiful La Jolla coastline, counting among the highest qualities of life in the US.

Salary range: A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $64,480 - $77,327.
