UC San Diego's Emeritus Faculty member, Robert "Bob" Conn, has been bestowed with the prestigious 2023 Simon Ramo Founders Award, a highly distinguished recognition presented by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). Conn is one of four UC San Diego faculty members to receive the award in the past 25 years, and he served as the first Dean of the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering. Conn is being recognized for his pivotal contributions in nationwide science and technology strategies through his roles in academia, business, and philanthropic efforts, along with his groundbreaking innovations in the field of fusion engineering.
