Associate Teaching Professor Huihui Qi has secured a three-year National Science Foundation (NSF) grant aimed at empowering engineering students to become more effective and self-regulated learners. Qi collaborated with experts across UC San Diego including the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Psychology, as well as the Jacobs School of Engineering, the Teaching and Learning Commons, and her students. Her research will delve into the integration of interventions within courses to facilitate the development, strengthening, and transfer of cognitive, metacognitive, and affective regulation skills in engineering education. Building on prior research in psychology and cognitive science, this study aims to bridge the gap in adopting course-integrated strategies for nurturing students' journey toward becoming successful and self-regulated learners. Assistant Teaching Professor Marko Lubarda and Teaching Professor Nate Delson will be integral to the project's success.
