General Atomics has been involved in inertial fusion energy activities since the CASCADE reactor concept design study in the mid 1980’s. Some past and present activities in the field of inertial fusion energy (IFE) development will be presented. This seminar will focus in the areas of target mass production, and target injection, tracking and engagement.
Neil Alexander received the Ph.D. degree in physics from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, USA, in 1992.,Since 1992, he has been working as a Scientist with General Atomics, San Diego, CA, USA, where he has worked on the production of targets and target fielding systems for ICF, IFE, and HED experiments. His current research interests include target production and fielding for high repetition rate, ultrashort pulse lasers, and applications of laser target generated radiation.,Dr. Alexander received the NIF Programs Award for his work on CRYO-TARPOS in 2006.
